MagneMotion, Inc. Partners with Systems Integrator, Cox Automation Systems, to Offer Higher Throughput Solutions for End Users
Acton, Massachusetts (August 11, 2005)
MagneMotion, Inc. and Cox Automation Systems today announced that MagneMotion’s QuickStick Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) will serve as a key component in Cox Automation’s new assembly automation solution. The QuickStick was chosen by Cox Automation because its electro-magnetic thrust and control components move pallets into position faster than conventional conveyor systems, and it decreases the need for added tooling and maintenance. Cox Automation will showcase the new model September 27-29, 2005 at the Assembly Technology Expo in Chicago, IL.
"The QuickStick technology is important because it allows Cox Automation to improve individual station pallet cycle times.” says Paul Gustafson, VP of Sales at Cox Automation, “Today's market is all about out-thinking your competition. Building a really fast chassis when only one out of ten stations needs to be fast is not a good use of capital. Cox tries to invest our customers’ equipment budget as if it were our own."
MagneMotion’s QuickStick LSM system consists of meter-long linear synchronous motors designed to connect end-to-end within a vehicle guideway system. Using electro-magnetic force, the motors move and control vehicles equipped with permanent magnet arrays. The motors communicate with each other and sense where vehicles are at all times. Vehicles can move bi-directionally at speeds up to 2.5 meters per second, stop at multiple stations with a repeatability of .5mm, and carry loads in excess of 1,000 lbs, depending on acceleration and velocity requirements.
Cox Automation Systems custom-designs and fabricates automated assembly, testing, metal-removal, and special-process machinery. The company can supply stand-alone machines or fully integrated systems using walking-beam, rotary-dial, continuous-motion, carousel, and palletized modules. System displays guide the user through setup, fault clearing, and machine diagnostics. For more information, please visit www.coxautomation.com.
MagneMotion develops and manufactures assembly automation, material handling and transportation solutions using electro-magnetic technology.
