QuickStick® FAQs

How do I interface with the QuickStick system?

The MagneMotion system has a proprietary embedded PC called a node controller that can communicate with an end user’s PLC or PC using either an Ethernet/IP communication protocol or TCP/IP communication protocol. This connection is made with a simple Ethernet cable.

What is the thrust force provided by the QuickSticks?

At the nominal physical magnetic gap of 3 mm (gap between magnet array and top of QuickStick) the QS100 provides approximately 20 N per magnet array cycle and the QS500HT provides 40 N per magnet array cycle. The magnet array comes in many lengths, ranging from 3 cycles to 20 cycles. (we could provide a graph if you think that would be useful)

How robust is the system? What is the MTBF (mean time between failure)?

Conventional conveyor system have mechanical power transmission components and hundreds or even thousands of moving or wearing parts which all represent potential failure modes in the system. MagneMotion’s LSM transport system are extremely reliable based on a LACK of moving and wearing parts. Ours is a frictionless drive technology and aside from a few wheels on some of our system carriers there are no moving or wearing parts. We have a customer who performed a year-long cost of ownership analysis on our system and realized the number of moving parts in their system went from 1087 with the conventional conveyor to 61 with our system their MTBF improved by a factor of 3 when switching to MagneMotion technology. Please contact MagneMotion to discuss your MTBF goals and how we can help meet those requirements.

What is the strength of the magnetic field above the Magnet array or vehicle?

There is a small magnetic field present above the magnet array or vehicle but the vast majority of the magnetic field is focused in the gap between the magnet array and the motor where it is needed. The field above the motor dissipates quickly with distance. To discuss your application requirements and any concerns regarding magnetic field please contact MagneMotion.
